Since in the PhagoFlow project each patient is to receive a cocktail of phages individually compiled according to the physician’s order, it is crucial to first find out which phages match the previously isolated/identified patient strain. A phagogram, similar to an antibiogram, is used to test the sensitivity of clinical patient isolates to phages which are readily available. So far, there are various methods that can be used for this purpose, but a standardised procedure is still lacking. In the course of the project, the Department of Clinical Microbiology/Hospital Hygiene of the BwKrh Berlin and the DSMZ together develop a phagogram method that can be routinely used in diagnostic laboratories in the future.
